The webcasts from the annual ECNP congress are now available on their website. The site includes every major presentation of the conference, including several on bipolar disorder. One of the symposia is by the “European Network of Bipolar Expert Centres”, which had four different talks about bipolar disorder. The first was a general introduction, the second was about memory functioning, the third was on age of onset (the controversial subject of bipolar disorder in children arose here), and finally was about a large cohort study in the United States. All of these webcasts on the ECNP website
Commentary
The internet is wonderful for these sorts of conferences. Before, presentations at congresses would not be available to anyone who didn’t attend except in some printed form, maybe. Instead, the ECNP has provided their major talks to anyone with internet access. In addition, the nice thing about these major talks is that they are, strangely enough, not oriented to specialists. Because congresses like the ECNP are interdisciplinary, major discussions are not aimed to those with an extremely high level of expertise. This means that these webcasts are reasonably accessible.
